Pastor's Staff

Pastor Bud Calvert started Fairfax Baptist Temple in 1970 and served as Pastor of FBT for 35 years before stepping down in 2006 and turning the church over to his son, Troy Calvert. He now serves as Pastor Emeritus and travels throughout the United States and around the world preaching in missions conferences, helping start churches, encouraging missionaries and Pastors, and training men who are preparing for the ministry. As founder of the International Conference on World Evangelism, he is working to turn the hearts of preachers, young and old, toward church planting and world evangelism.  Pastor Calvert and his wife Mary have been married for 43 years and split their time between Fairfax, Virginia and Lakeland, Florida.  One of his greatest joys in life is being a fulltime grandfather to Raquel, Nate, David, and Julia in addition to spending time with his wife, playing a little golf, and visiting with others.

Jack has served as the Pastor of our Spanish Church since January 2006.  Prior to that, he served as assistant to Pastor Troy Calvert while Pastor Calvert led the Spanish Church. Pastor Jack oversees each ministry, develops the budget, directs the affairs of the congregation, and spends time counseling and teaching.   A second generation Hispanic, Jack and his wife Esther have been married for 14 years and have two children.  Prior to coming to FBT, Jack served at the U.S. Department of Justice as an investigative specialist in the Office of the Inspector General, and he also spent four years as an Operations Specialist aboard the USS San Jacinto visiting 25 countries.  He enjoys spending time with his family, traveling throughout the area, and going to museums.  Jack is a die hard sports fan having played rugby and football as well as mountain biking the W&O trail from Leesburg, VA to Washington, DC.

A self-proclaimed “Foodie,” he enjoys fine dining, gourmet cooking, and travel with the best shrimp scampi ever being served from the back of a truck along the coast in Hawaii, and the world’s best gelato being served from a tiny shop in Venice, Italy.  Each fall during football season, his heart is torn between the University of Georgia Bulldogs and Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
